Andoni legislative goes on recess

The legislative arm of Andoni local government has vacated for an annual recess.

The leader of the House, Hon. Sampson Sam Itogwung made this public recently in his office in the temporary legislative chamber, Ngo headquarters of Andoni local government area.

In a release made available to this publication and signed by the house leader and the clerk of the house tagged "notification of 2005 legislative annual recess", the power for such a recess was derivable from the standing order 4, section 9 subsection A and B of the Andoni Legislative Assembly.

The notification reads: "In line with standing order 4, section 9 subsection A and B, of the Andoni Legislative coupled with her resolution on the above subject matter in previous session on Tuesday 24th of May 2005, we wish to inform you that the House has proceeded on her 2005 annual recess with effect from today, 1st of July 2005".

Itogwung in the statement stated that the house should, however, commence her normal legislative duties on Tuesday 2nd August 2005.

It would be recalled that recently the councillors in Andoni were struggling over alleged impeachment threat, which according to the leader in a radio interview was organized by some dissident councillors. Asked, what the situation is presently, Itogwung maintained that all is well with him and his office has the councillors, according to him, have been brought under control through party instrument, hence his power as the house leader to announce the house recess.
